An Old Irish Blessing

For all those friends that I have left behind, here is a special blessing for them :-

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Hello Sydney!!

I have just migrated to Sydney, Australia on 1st June 2010.

That is why I had not been updating my blog for some time.

I was too busy packing up my life, shipping my belongings and tying up all the loose ends before leaving Singapore permanently.

It has been a long process that started in 2007 when we first submitted our application for migration to Australia. After that, there were endless documents to complete, getting good behavior reports from the police and waiting and waiting for our application to be processed.

We finally got our PR approval in Feb 2009 and we went to the Australian embassy on the 4th day of Chinese New Year to get our visa stamped in our passports.

We have been busy for the past 2 days settling down here in Sydney. We opened bank accounts, set up our Medicare, obtained our tax numbers as well as change our driving license.

It has been a very hectic time and I am going to take it easy for a while for a few days. Then, have to start looking for an apartment to rent.

I have visited Sydney many times and have always love the city and its energy. Even though people complained that Sydney is very expensive, however, I think that it is not really that expensive for the quality of life that we can enjoy.

In Singapore, we were also paying through our nose and getting bad services, rude people and drones/robots across the counter. We also faced a lot of frustrations dealing with stupid people there.

So far, we have not encountered a single bad customer service, both from the Government and private sector. We have been treated with respect and courtesy so far.

The above is a photo that I took early this morning. It has been raining and I saw a beautiful rainbow where the sun is just rising. What an auspicious sign!

We will enjoy our life here in Sydney, blessed with an abundance of prosperity, good health and happiness. We plan to make all our dreams come true...
